"Greetings, traveller."

Perhaps you're looking for a light-hearted Christmas entertainment? And maybe you're not averse to being just a tiny bit scared? If so, Richard Quest: Canada™ Edition might be for you.

Answer your friend Richard's request for assistance, explore his strange Canadian™ castle, and help him out of whatever occult predicament he's got himself into this time before anything really terrible can happen. Hopefully.

What is this nonsense?

A Twine game pretending to be a traditional text adventure. Move between rooms, pick up objects, and figure out how and where to use them to proceed. Everything works by clicking/tapping on links just like other Twine games, and there isn't anything fancy like sound or graphics - it took me long enough to paint the one moose...

Just lots of words.

There is, however, mild occult horror content, but nothing too awful. And you can't get into a position where you're unable to finish the game.

Credits

Made by me, with Twine, but heavily inspired by the Christmas quests created by my brother Richard to entertain and frustrate the rest of the family when they're too full and/or tipsy to get away.

The moose was painted referring to a photo from CBC, they didn't give a photographer credit though.

Problems?

If you're using the Chrome browser and have third party cookies blocked, you may get a black screen when you launch the game. To work around this, click the sinister eye in the address bar, click Site not working? and then Allow Cookies.  This setting only affects itch.io.

Disclaimer

I just found out that there's a journalist called Richard Quest. This game is entirely unrelated to him. As above, it's based on an actual series of Quests created by my actual brother, Richard. I kid you not.

Also disclaimer - sadly I've never been to Canada™ but Richard was living there when I wrote this and I needed a setting. I don't think I've exploited Canadian™ stereotypes to excess, but fair warning that there is a moose in this story.

This was pretty fun.  very cute story.  hope to see more of your awesome adventures soon

Glad you liked it! I started writing another with a slightly more serious tone earlier this year, but it's slow going. Still hoping to finish for Xmas as my brother is visiting, watch this space I guess.
